Every Parent Call Answered
A new AI-powered phone system that tells you where your child’s bus is, why it is running late, and when it will arrive.
We Rebuilt Our Phone Line Around Live Route Data
Logan Bus Company is rolling out an AI powered phone system built on Cisco technology. It was designed around the three things parents call about: where the bus is, why it is late, and when it will arrive.
The system securely recognizes your child’s bus route from your caller ID, so you are not spending the first minute of every call explaining who you are. You get current information faster, and you can still reach a live representative at any time.
Logan Bus transports roughly 20 percent of all New York City student ridership. This investment came directly from what parents, advocates, and school partners told us they needed: real answers, right now, especially in the first weeks of school and during bad weather.
Not a script. Not a callback. A real answer, right now, with a person one button away.
What This Means for You
Your call gets answered. Including the first weeks of school and snow days, when the phones are busiest.
The system already knows your route. Your phone number is securely matched to your child’s route, same details every time you call.
Live information, not a recording. The assistant checks current bus delay information rather than reading from a script.
A real person, whenever you want one. One button sends you to a customer service representative.
Answers while they are still useful. If traffic, weather, an accident, or a road closure is affecting the route, you hear about it while it matters, not after drop-off.
Connect directly to Via GPS data. The next phase connects the phone system directly for even more precise answers.
Frequently Asked Questions

When you call from the phone number on file for your child, the system securely matches that number to your child’s assigned route. Nothing about your child is read aloud to anyone who is not calling from your number, and you are never asked to enter a student ID to get started. If your number has changed, ask your school’s main office to update it with the Department of Education so the match keeps working.
-
Always. The AI assistant is there to handle the lookup, not to replace our customer service team. You can ask for a representative at any point in the call, and because the system has already identified your child, route, and reason for calling, that representative starts the conversation already knowing why you are on the phone. It removes the first minute of every call, which is the part nobody enjoys.

Route planning, stop locations, and pick up times are set by the New York City Department of Education, not by Logan Bus. We operate the routes we are assigned. If you want a route or stop reviewed, the request goes through your school and the DOE Office of Pupil Transportation. What we can do, and what this system is built to do, is tell you exactly what is happening with your child’s bus today and what we are doing about it.

We move more than 46,000 students every school day across Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Nassau County, roughly 20 percent of all New York City student ridership. On that scale, traffic, severe weather, accidents, and road closures will affect some routes on some days. Our new technology let’s find out early, you hear the actual reason, and you hear what we are doing to resolve it, instead of standing at the corner guessing.
-
Yes, and we hope you use both. The app shows you where the bus is on a map and notifies you when your child boards and exits. Our phone system explains the why and the what happens next and connects you to a person when you need one.
