Logan Bus wants to be sure that your child’s trip to and from school is as enjoyable as possible. We all play a role in achieving this goal. In order to get your child to school safely, on-time, and ready to learn, it is important that he or she understands the school bus safety rules. Please discuss the rules listed below with your child early in the school year and after each school holiday as a reminder.

Rules on boarding the bus:

• Let the bus come to a full stop before approaching the door of the bus.
• Use the handrail to help keep your balance as you go up the steps, one at a time.
• Report anything damaged on the bus to driver as you leave.

Rules while riding the bus:

• Speak softly.
• Get permission before opening a window, and don’t put anything (such as hands, head or arms) or throw anything out.
• Don’t talk to driver while the bus is in motion, unless it is an emergency. The driver has to keep his or her mind on the road.
• No talking at all when bus comes to railroad crossing, so the driver can hear any approaching train.
• Keep arms and legs out of the aisle, where they could trip or hurt somebody.
• Sit quietly in your seat, until the trip is over and the bus has come to a full stop.
• Keep seat belt on until the bus comes to a halt at the school or home.
• No eating, drinking or smoking is permitted on vehicle.

Rules for leaving the bus:

• Stay seated until the bus comes to a full stop. The driver will tell you when to go.
• Always use handrail going up and down steps to protect yourself from falling.
• Move away from the bus quickly. Stay clear of rear wheels. Never reach back through windows.
